Breaking news that Disregard the Vampire – A Mike Messier Documentary has secured a Best Documentary Award at Shawna Shea Film Festival, 2017 SSFF

“This is a great accomplishment and a real testimony to perseverance and making the most of every situation”, says Mike.
This is now the fourth accolade for the film, following Best Promotional Photo and Best Poster from MedFF and a Best Trailer Award from Canada’s Yes! Let’s Make a Movie Film Festival
Mike, Script Supervisor Mary DeBerry, Associate Producer and the holder of MANY titles on the doc Lily Spencer, and Actor David Graziano (who has a poignant cameo in the doc) were in attendance for the screening along with other filmmakers such as Amy Wade and other curious audience members.
Disregard Co- Editor & Co-Producer Tim Labonte (who also filmed much of the documentary aspects of the film in addition to the original footage by Chris Hunter) and his new wife Amanda attended and shared in the audience’s delight.

After the film, Mike and fellow filmmaker Jim McDonough, who had an Experimental Sci-Fi Comedy in the same screening block, answered questions from the audience and shook hands.
“The day was a big success”, said Mike. “Hopefully, this honor will lead to more interest in the doc itself and the follow up project Distance from Avalon.”
